Orchrist was formed in 1995 and three years later they recorded their first demo, called ‘Path to Glory’. On this demo four songs are found, with a total duration of 20 minutes. Back then, Orchrist played raw thrash music. From then on the band decided to strike a different, more serious, note. The new songs they wrote were more into death. Due to this change their first CD ‘Echoes of the Void’ became an album consisting of mid tempo death metal. Their music sounds quite nice and is played very tight. Every song is well built up and the album is well balanced. It is just that when I listen to this album, it’s like I’ve heard every riff before. I know it’s very difficult to have a sound of your own these days, but one should always try.

Because of that we cannot call this album a renewal or a rumbling release. But I think that the fans of mid tempo death can have a good time with this new CD. It struck me that this album is very well recorded and mixed, especially for a first album. When I take a good look at the album, I can only be positive. Although they lack a sound of their own, they really know how to play music. This is the most important feature for a starting band. A visit to their site is really worthwhile: www.orchrist.com So keep lashing, thrashing and dashing and teach this bad world a lesson with ‘Echoes of the Void’.
